Happiness

Image
Happiness peaked at me, around the corner, the other day.  Then she ran away.  Like a shy child, it fled from my glance.  No, not shy. Like a child you know well, and love, playing “peekaboo“ with you it peeked at me around the corner, giggled , then darted away. I’m so ready for you to come stay. I wanted to scream at her, but it could not hear me for some reason.  Where do you hide? When you’re not here? I wondered.  Why have I gone so many years without seeing you, I couldn’t understand.  But she’s still there. Giggling, curls bouncing, in love with the world, dancing at every song  She’s still there.  One day I will find her or maybe she’ll find me.

Tradition!!!

Image
The opening scene of “Fiddler On A Roof” always makes me laugh.     Tevie screaming “Tradition!!”.  Demanding things must remain the same. It was intended to be a parody, not to be taken seriously, but I think he has a point. Society evolves.  Clothes that were fashionable 30 years ago are laughable today. Sayings “cool” even 20 years ago seem ridiculous today. Even the style and colors of our homes continues to change. On a personal note, I was never into the whole “gray“ trend. Gray, the color of absolutely nothing. lol There are some things that should never change. Keeping God, first place in our homes IS the most important one.  But slowly, we evolve, if we’re not very vigilant and careful.     Complacency and apathy take over, like a mouse that comes in every night just to steal one grain of rice pretty soon our spirit or “bag” is empty.  Our society shows it! How many families today have home altars? How many families today insist thei...

Do You Kniw Your God?

Image
Do you know your God? May was an interesting month for me, in many ways. Immediately after mom‘s funeral, I decided to tidy up the living room. I wanted to get her ostomy supplies together and give them to a friend. Those things are super expensive and I definitely wanted to bless someone with them if I could.  For some reason as I begin tidying up that one corner of the room, I decided to completely rearrange the living room. I still don’t know what came over me.  Before I was done, I had three rooms in complete disarray.   My whole house was, “tore up from the floor up“, lol, which would have been no big deal, because I still had 10 days before I was going back to work.  But my sweet grandson decided he was done waiting to come into the world. His mom went into premature labor on Thursday night, the 18th, and I spent the next nine days, happily, taking care of grandbabies.  I came home exhausted the night before I started back to work to a “Tore up” house, and...

Silent Battlefield

Image
Silent Battlefield 2 Chron 20 tells us of a time in Israel’s history when total annihilation seemed impossible to escape. King Jehoshaphat and the people of God were surrounded on every side by numerous armies. He called a fast. He called a prayer meeting where they literally fell on their face before God as a nation and cried out, “God we don’t know what to do but our eyes are on you.“ God answered. He told them to march out. He told them they would prevail. He told them He would be with them.  The king consulted the people and it was their decision to send out the worshipers first. They chose to let worship lead their warfare … to be their warfare. They chose to lead their entire army with praises to God. They chose to … rather than send out their greatest warriors with their most powerful physical weapons … To send out their trust and faith in God through their loud and vibrant worship. A tactic that in the natural seems almost foolish because it would surely alert the en...

Momma’s Remember “Rand is there too.” She said it so casually it stunned me a little. Like he was in the next room, at a friend’s or in a his room with his long teenage legs drapped over the side of his bed talking to that girl with the freckles he liked so much. But, no.   Rand was not in any of those places.   He never would be.   His tiny body was in the family cemetery his Momma was now referring to now.   He had barely gotten here from Heaven when SIDS stole him and he returned.   A beautiful baby boy.   His Momma remembered.   His smell, his eyes, his sound when sleeping, her hopes, her dreams, the way he felt inside her, the joy when he was given to her. …. Momma’s remember … and in some way … their children live on with them and in them   … even when they don't.  Decades after he’s gone her heart still has him in the center of her thoughts. Momma’s remember. ***** She leaned over the casket.   ...

Cycles

Image
Everything in our Universe “travels” in cycles. We have been a Blessed nation. So much so that the very idea it will not continue is practically inconceivable. In the 60’s and 70’s things began to change. Rebellion and political corruption began to “raise it’s (ugly) head” and (mostly) the church stayed silent. Prayer was removed from our schools without one single vote. And the church stayed silent. As long as their immediate surroundings remained (basically) serene ... they were unconcerned, quiet and thus complicit. The love for God and His Word seemed to decrease more and more every decade. Despite significant historical proof and page after page of warning in His word, our society stepped further and further away from the God Who had Blessed us with every passing day. When laws were passed that not only violated His word but had great consequences according to His word (mostly) the church in our society stayed silent. Bullied into silence by a vindictive counter cultur...
