Happiness

Happiness peaked at me, around the corner, the other day.  Then she ran away.  Like a shy child, it fled from my glance.

No, not shy. Like a child you know well, and love, playing “peekaboo“ with you it peeked at me around the corner, giggled , then darted away.

I’m so ready for you to come stay. I wanted to scream at her, but it could not hear me for some reason.

Where do you hide? When you’re not here? I wondered.

Why have I gone so many years without seeing you, I couldn’t understand.

But she’s still there. Giggling, curls bouncing, in love with the world, dancing at every song

She’s still there.

One day I will find her or maybe she’ll find me.
