We humans often draw a huge bull’s-eye on our chest for satan. We humans can be so self sabotaging. Clueless we walk right into his trap.
Galatians 6 tells us that we will reap what we sow. The theory of karma (though incorrect as a religion) theoretically, and popularly known “as you get what you get” is true.
What goes around does indeed, come around.
You’re probably thinking, “that has nothing to do with me. I’m a good person.
Well, first of all, none of us are as good as we think we are.
lol
Humans tend to be very generous with ourselves in that regard. But are we really?
You’ve never had someone in your life that you were jealous of? That when you got the opportunity to do them good, in their need, you, just “forgot about them”
You’ve never had someone in your life that irritated you, but you kept “coming around” because it benefited you financially? they were generous, loving and giving to you, and your family But the minute it was of no benefit to you again you just ignored them?
You’ve never had someone need you, even if it wasn’t a convenient moment for you, and you rejected them completely?
Never “slipped a little something” in your pocket because they had plenty of them and you decided they’d never miss it.
Never told someone you loved them, or they could depend on you only to prove later you did not mean it?
Never saw family member struggling and shrugged and made excuses like, “it’s all their fault, they could have made better ‘choices’ ” because even helping them pay the light bill once or twice a year was more than you wanted to invest in the situation?
Never betrayed a confidence?
Never lied?
Yes, good people do those things. We’ve all had some of these things done to us and similar things.
Do we still love them, absolutely.
Do I pray for them? Very often.
I genuinely care about them and have compassion for them.
Why do I have compassion? Because we do reap what we sow.
God is not mocked.
We humans especially 21st century American Christians are so independent and foolishly self-sufficient we have completely lost the fear of God.
He is still God.
He’s not gone to sleep, despite how little regard we give His Word.
Because if we can do the things I’ve mentioned above and similar behaviors we have no regard for His word. We have no real fear of God
The golden rule has helped many people live a better life. Yet it’s hardly ever even taught or talked about today. I bet some of you don’t even know what I’m talking about. You should go look it up.
However, God did not give us these instructions just as a mandate. He didn’t even give us these instructions because He’s so powerful and we need to behave.
He gave us these instructions because He loves us.
He gave us these instructions because hHe has compassion on us. He gave us these instructions for the very reason I still pray for these people, no matter how badly they’ve hurt me and those I love… You will reap what you sow!
That’s a powerful promise if you are giving and serving God’s children as he commanded us and showed us to do. We have great Blessings coming.
It’s also a powerful truth, whether you are or not.
So back to the bull’s-eye… There are a few entities in this universe that know the Word of God better than Satan. He knows how powerful God’s word is. He knows God is not lawless. He knows the word of God is the law of God. He knows it and he uses it expertly.
The book of Job it’s not about God being mean to one man. It’s about the law of God being applied correctly. Satan demanded and gained access because Job opened the door. Among other things, Job states, “The thing I feared the most has come upon me”.
Any time Satan can get us to act in a violation to the word of God it is a total “win - win” for him. He uses you as a tool to hurt someone, then he dances in glee around us. Because he knows it gives him legal permission to do the exact same thing to us!
Yep… Very often wehave probably been our own worst enemy. Well, next to Satan.
Humans can also be very shortsighted. Like a toddler the minute we “step over the line“ if God doesn’t zap us with a lightning bolt or the modern day equivalent (blowing up the engine in our car or some thing), we think we’ve gotten away with it. We think we’ve gotten away with it and we keep doing it. All the while we are giving Satan one of the biggest thrills of his “Life”. We are painting a bull’s-eye on our own chest. Frankly, we’re loading the gun, putting it in his hand, and pointing it at ourselves!
They say revenge is sweet. I disagree. If it is sweet, it’s a sweet poison. That will eventually kill you.
Jealousy, selfishness, stealing, self-centeredness, apathy, and even just plain meanness, may feel good for the moment, but, brace yourself… It’s got a really bad backlash.
Some of you are so mad at God because the circumstances in your life are not good. People in your life are not acting correctly and you don’t understand why. You need to go into your bathroom, face your sink, and have a long talk with the person in the mirror. Because that’s probably where the trouble started!
God honors effort. If we truly repent and want to do better, we can close the door that we’ve opened to our life. Then we have to resist the temptation to repeat those behaviors because I promise you, we’re going to get an opportunity very soon. satan may not be very smart, but he is definitely very persistent. If we close the door, that we’ve opened ourselves, giving him access to attack our life. He’s going to notice. And he’s going to try to get us to open it again! Don’t fall into his trap. Make yourself a fortress of repentance.
You don’t have to be perfect, but you do have to truly, from the depths of your heart, be sorry that you did those things… And let me further define that for the repentance, impaired… That means you wish you hadn’t done it! If your heart is still glad you did it but you really sad about the consequences. You’ve not repented! You can say I’m sorry all day long. It won’t do one bit of good.
If you’re not, sorry, then you need to ask God to help you get that way. Because you are being your own worst enemy. You cannot attack other children of God and expect it to work out. Good for you. It’s just not going to. Whether today tomorrow or 40 years from now, you’re going to reap every single thing you sow.
Galatians 6:7
Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap.
